Teri Agins (2000) expressed that Giorgio Armani is one of the universes smash hit planner, a maker who was equivalent amounts of steak and sizzleââ¬fashion and promoting. Likewise, once, it was distributed in Forbes (Richard Heller 2001) that ââ¬ËArmani is one of a kind. He keeps ideal harmony between the job of originator and chief. Mr. Armani was picked as the universes best planner by Forbes in 2000 and respected with a lifetime accomplishment in a 2004s affair occasion sorted out by the Fashion Group International which is a worldwide non-benefit relationship with a participation of more than 6000 experts of accomplishment and impact speaking to all zones of the design, attire, extras, excellence, and home businesses to praise his inapproachability gifts and high status in style zone. This article will be isolated into three sections to entirely show Giorgio Armanis significant commitment and assess his status and effect in the field of style. The Design Revolution Giorgio Armani brought Giorgio Armanis Unique Marketing Strategy End Plan Revolutionary Giorgio Armani, one of the most celebrated style creators known by individuals everything being equal and classes on the planet, is the undisputed virtuoso of design. This Italian originator initially became well known by his menswear. Followed 1975s effective menswear style appear, he began structuring chicly womens wear in 1976. In any case, Armani lead the style pattern around then and in fact reformed the mens and womens dressing way, hence he was generally refered to as the universes best-perceived, most financially fruitful, and actually rich architect. (Mary Lisa Gavenas, 2008) ââ¬ËElegant, ââ¬ËMasculine and ââ¬Ëminimal are the commonest words to depict Armanis style. All Armanis cuts are straightforward, clean and as straight as could reasonably be expected. It invalidates the contention among respect and sex, among dress and force. It likewise delivers a tasteful delight fair and square of the freedom of social minorities and sexualities; obtains open significance through dispersion and mass culture, while staying open to the fanciful and the erotic; makes narcissistic items not, at this point decided uniquely by usefulness, yet additionally by such models of emblematic ID as sex and status. ( Germane Celant , 2000) Famous Design As a style ace, Giorgio Armani has made a noteworthy number of plan works of art, for example, ââ¬ËPantsuits for ladies, ââ¬ËUnconstructed Suit , ââ¬ËEthnic Style and ââ¬ËCasual Luxury. Yet, in the event that we need to choose one as his agent work, coat, is the inescapable decision. It is commonly referred to that Armani is named as the lord of coats by broad communications, not just on the grounds that he is the primary individual who planned the coat in 1975, yet in addition since he dedicated to refresh it and make it notable. For Giorgio Armani, one coat was all it took to start his triumphant vocation and to change both the streetscape and the historical backdrop of design. Surely it was an exceptional coat, something new, which inexplicably showed the necessities and not only the tasteful existing apart from everything else. It was made to fit the fretfulness and new authority of ladies, and to offer men the force to free themselves from the awkward defensive layer they had been utilizing to ensure their poise and uncertainties. (Natalia Aspesi, 2000) As referenced in the Emporio Armani magazine, distributed in 1996, ââ¬Ëwhen I started to plan, men all wearing a similar way. American industry made major decisions, with its professionals dissipated everywhere throughout the worldâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦ all flawlessly equivalent, similarly immaculate. The Mao Syndrome. Everybody wore a similar uniform, somewhat more extensive here, more tightened there, however the substance was consistently the equivalent. You couldnt disclose to them separated. They had no imperfections. In any case, I preferred deformity. I needed to customize the coat, to make it all the more firmly receptive to its wearer. How? By evacuating the structure. Making it into such a subsequent skin. Armani is intense in making advancements and he has never halted his progression. He endeavored to build up his plan around the coat which was the gazing pointing for his profession. Armani restored and overhauled the coat practically each season. He showed that his little how ever pivotal revelation lies in having envisioned article of clothing which falls over the body in a shockingly normal way. (Giorgio Armani, 1996) The presence of coat offered another method of dressing for the two people. Fitting Celant (2000) pointed that his coat was an apparatus of flimsy personality that could adjust to any substantial setting at all, along these lines fulfilling the enthusiastic and mental prerequisites of a gentility keeping an eye on the manly just as a manliness that tried; it arranged itself in the zone of bisexuality. Be that as it may, coat has been made for over twenty years, however so far it has been broadly refreshing in design industry. There is no embellishment to state that, from mass market to extravagance advertise, the notorious plan coat existed wherever of style region. Mens Wear It is generally realized that Giorgio Armani started his vocation by liberating men from the dull uniform and offering them differed approaches to dress. From years to years, assortment to assortment, he progressively structured easygoing extravagance, agreeable however cool menswear based on clear realizing mens want. It is remarked by Farid Chenoune (1993) that Armani at first structured garments for hot, thickest and wide bottomed men, in this manner moving the focal point of manly anatomical enthusiasm from the back (rather than the prior design for tight, level jeans with their ââ¬Ëexposedââ¬beam look). As referenced previously, in 1975, Giorgio Armani caused a sprinkle in design industry. His stunned world coat was embraced by male fans who bunched round Armanis design idea. During a few time investigation and development, Armani got extraordinary compared to other selling menswear architects toward the finish of 1970s, yet he didnt got bleary eyed with the victories previously won, he kept on growing his effect in style pattern, particularly in menswear. In the start of 1980s, with the promotion of film and TV, the entire society has free its male style prospects so they may frequently exist together and interpenetrate (Anne Hollander, 1994). Armani effectively got the opportunity and built up coordinated relations with Hollywoods film industry. Paul Schraders 1980 film American Gigolo put Armani on the publics radar once more. In the film, on-screen character Richard Gere dressed only in Armani. Teri Agins (2000) recommended that the film was a mobile Armani design appear. Undoubtedly, from that point on, mens dressing recognition was totally extraordinary. Maetha J. Nelson (2000) additionally upheld that the creative mind that formed a closet so graceful and enticing for Richard in American Gigolo that menswear in this nation was never the equivalent again. Giorgio Armani, whose structure style was viewed as provocative, polish and great quality, was perceived as a forebear of the Wall Streetââ¬ËYuppie. Womens Wear ââ¬ËGiorgio Armani changed the essence of womens design starting in the ââ¬Ë70s. A huge number of confounded ladies put their trust in him, and were for the time being changed to best dressed. said by Anjelica Huston, an on-screen character. The well known draftsman Gae Aulenti additionally proclaimed for this view. She clarified that Armani is communicating with congruity a sense class that gets from both the insight and the sense. As indicated by female VIPs gratefulness to Armani, it is straightforward and finish up the status and impact of Giorgio Armani in womens wear plan. Armani had thrown a similar spell over another age of official ladies who were disinterested with the fastidious, figure-shaping high fashion that was coming out of Paris. Armanis delicate, happy with fitting turned out large in women's activist age (Teri Agins, 2000). As Anne Hollander (1994) referenced in Sex and Suit: the advancement of current dress, the modernizing garments for ladies had implied replicating mens garments, legitimately or in a roundabout way, somehow. Giorgio Armani may not be the first or the sole one who acquired menswears tailor to womens wear, yet he might be the person who had the best effect. It is additionally upheld by Farid Chenoune (1993) that Armani dressed ladies in styles straightforwardly propelled by menswear and gave proficient ladies a similar sort of quietly ground-breaking uniform that men had. During the 1970s, since ladies were permitted to impart the activity to men and stand up for themselves in office, the need of appropriate and elegant working-garments was squeezing. Quitter (1984) demonstrated that womens bodies and the messages which garments can include are the archives of the social meanings of sexuality, and ladies are consistently the characterized sex and the showcase of those definitions. Giorgio Armani knew about it and went in for structuring what businesspeople need. From 1970s to current, Giorgio Armani, whose pantsuits were the zenith of ââ¬Ëpower-dressing, has illustrated joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-50405337065657346672020-08-22T14:05:00.001-07:002020-08-22T14:05:19.944-07:00African American Impact on SportsA life isn't significant aside from in the effect it has on others lives. Explores, philosophers, and writers have always come to argue on what is considered to be barbarism, savagery, and civilized. These constructed categories have put a label on people who do not share the same ideas as one another. These different views of human nature have come to propel change and have come to revolutionized human history. Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Michel de Montaigne, and Thomas Hobbes all differ on their ideas of human nature, but they also share common ground. For some of these men the practices of different cultures are categorized as savagery, and for others it has been viewed as noble savagery. Their ideas however have allowed society to view different perspectives of human nature. These perspectives have classified human nature as a way of life, or as an obstacle to what is consider to be the good life. Their ethnographic resources provide a glimpse to all the different cultures and their value to s ociety and history. Cannibalism in many Western societies is usually frown upon or illegal; however, for a tribe located in Antarctic France which is now known as Brazil, cannibalism is considered to be a norm. For many Western thinkers this cultural practice of cannibalism would be an act of savagery, but for Michel de Montaigne this cultural practice is categorized as noble savagery. The first thing that pops in my mind is ââ¬Å"what am I going to eat?â⬠I usually think about it for a long while, and try to decide if I should really eat something now or later. I mean, Iââ¬â¢m hungry, but then again I know I shouldnââ¬â¢t be eating just for fun. Others in this world have nothing to eat for hours at a time. And here I am eating away. I will never know what the pain is of going through only able to be eating once a day. But maybe their hungry and my hungry are different. There hungry could be something about being hungry for money or getting good grades. But Iââ¬â¢m hungrier for love or being wanted. The first remembrance of the first time when I was hungry was the summer when I was four years of age. We will write a custom essay sample on How it Feels to be Hungry Me or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Itââ¬â¢s not like the ââ¬Å"I need foodâ⬠hungry. It was more of hungry for being wanted and loved by my dad. He was never really home when I was younger because we had finical issues and we needed money to have a good life. He would work for long periods at a time so I never really saw him, when I did he was too tired to stay up and play with me or even say anything to me. I usually didnââ¬â¢t let it bother me, but after over a year of it, it hit me in the face like snowball. I was hungry for his love. I usually never fell that way. That was the only time I think I have ever felt hungry for love. There have been many people that have not felt love from parents. A lot of them have ran away, done drugs, drink alcohol, dropped out of school and have had bad grades, and are more sexually active. It is emotional abuse. Most parents donââ¬â¢t even know that they are doing it because they are used to that feeling because of what their parents did to them. They canââ¬â¢t tell what loving their kids feels like because they have never felt love from their parents. Now the kids donââ¬â¢t know what that feels like to be loved. They have seen kids and their parents and seen that they are loved. And they can realize that there is a difference between their parents, the ones that donââ¬â¢t love them the way they should, and the ones that love their child so much. If they have felt this way when they are younger they are more likely to do the same to their kids, and itââ¬â¢s just a never ending cycle. A lot of people are usually hungry for some other type of emotion, and sometimes might not even realize it. Most people put it behind them and deny it. Even when they donââ¬â¢t realize it, other people will notice a change in that person. Say, if someone is usually always happy and nice to everyone then they start to not talk to anyone and be unsocial. Even be unhappy. I usually donââ¬â¢t get hungry for love or any other things beside food now. I hope I never feel that way again. It was a bad feeling, and it really hurt. I donââ¬â¢t want anyone else to go through the same thing that I went through. I hope that no one will ever treat someone the way that I was when I was younger. joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-74372759682206395732020-04-14T21:40:00.001-07:002020-04-14T21:40:02.364-07:00periods-of-PHILIT Essays - Southeast Asia, Filipino People, Writers PHILIPPINE LITERATURE I. PETA seeks ââ¬Å"total animal liberation,â⬠according to its president, Ingrid Newkirk. That means no meat or dairy, no aquariums, no circuses, no hunting or fishing, no fur or leather, and no medical research using animals(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals par.1).PETA makes nearly $30 million each year, raised from pet owners who think their donations actually help animals. PETA has been known to be a group of extremists who are all about protecting animals, often breaking into fashion shows to throw blood on fur-wearing models, liberating lab animals, or showing gory videos outside of fast food restaurants, but PETA has never been accused of hurting animals; that is until recently(Collinspar.6). In June 2005 two PETA employees were arrested on felony charges after they were caught dumping bags filled with dead dogs and cats in a dumpster behind a supermarket. When police caught the two PETA employees they found 18 dead dogs in plastic bags in the dumpster and 13 more dead dogs still inside the van. A box filled with syringes and lethal drugs was also discovered inside the van registered to PETA. An autopsy was performed on one of the dogs, and they found that it was healthy before it was killed (Cassingham par.1). PETA, who collects millions of dollars in donations by pretending to care for animals has killed 17,400 pets since 1998. PETA has been picking up the animals from North Carolina animal shelters, promising to find them good homes, and instead has been killing them at PETA headquarters and storing them in giant walk-in freezer, or euthanizing them in vans and tossing them into dumpsters (PETA kills animals par. 3-4). It seems to me that they would rather use their money on cheap publicity stunts, rather than finding the animals suitable homes. PETA has been known to be a bit radical. Ingrid Newkirk once said in The New Yorker, We are complete press sluts. In an effort to win more media exposure, PETA began to buy stock in restaurant and food companies that serve and sell meat. PETAââ¬â¢s goal as a shareholder is to economically cripple these companies, force them to increase the retail price of meat, and get consumers to begin eating less of it. Newkirk believes their radical tactics work for the organization. PETA has compared animal farmers to serial killers, have said that a shark attack on a little boy was ââ¬Å"revengeâ⬠against humans who had it coming anyway, and have branded parents who feed their kids meat and milk ââ¬Å"child abusersâ⬠. Im sorry, I disagree. I also think throwing blood on a fur-wearing model, stalking and harassing fast-food restaurant executives, and telling children that their mommys kill animals is not the best way to get someone to listen to you. Arson, property destruction, burglary and theft are acceptable crimes when used for the animal cause.- Alex Pacheco, Director, PETA. It seems to me that they would rather use their money on cheap publicity stunts, rather than finding the animals suitable homes (PETA sucks pg.1). Dont get me wrong, I love animals and dont believe in animal abuse but I just think it is ridiculous that these people put animals lives above humans. For example, Bill Maher once said, To those people who say, `My father is alive because of animal experimentation, I say `Yeah, well, good for you. This dog died so your father could live. Sorry, but I am just not behind that kind of trade off. Well Bill, If I had to kill a dog to save my own life or the life of someone that I love, you better believe I would do it. Let us hope that someday we do not have to use animals for medical research, but I would rather see a million rats die than 1 human. I have seen the devastation that cancer causes, I have seen the horror of a family member that died too soon. If animal experimentation can stop this then I am for it. It makes me sick to know that when Tom Regan was asked which he would save, a dog or a baby, if a boat capsized in the ocean, he said, If it were a retarded baby and a bright dog, Id save the dog, or that Alex Pacheco, director of PETA stated, We feel that animals have the same rights as retarded children. (PETA sucks pg.1). PETA regularly targets kids as early as elementary school with violent and graphic anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda. They do this without parental consent.PETA boasts of having ââ¬Å"the largest youth membership of any animal rights organization,â⬠with over 800,000 Peta members. PETA lures young children using graphic comic books, toys, schoolyard demonstrations, and send them e-mail alerts. PETAââ¬â¢s website for kids puts a skull and crossbones next to the logo of Disneyââ¬â¢s Animal Kingdom and tells the horror story of a fast food restaurants. They also hand out trading cards to kids that tell them drinking milk will make them fat, pimply, flatulent, and phlegm-ridden(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals pg.1). How dare PETA tell our children Your Mommy Kills Animals and hand them a comic with an obvious mother figure on the cover stabbing a bunny, or tell them that if they drink milk they will get fat! PETA preaches to people with facts against the milk industry such as, products made from cows milk are far from natural for humans and anything but humane for cows. Milk is obviously not killing anybody on a daily basis and cows are not dying from milking machines. PETA also believes that milk cows are given little living space. I dont think that a cow that was undergoing tremendous suffering could still be able to produce milk. What PETA says is obviously a myth. After more than 100 dead dogs were dumped in a trash dumpster over four weeks Adria J. Hinkle and Andrew B. Cook were arrested and charged with 21 counts each of animal cruelty, a felony that can carry prison time, along with littering and obtaining property by false pretenses. This is odd because they are members of this radical animal-rights group that opposes meat-eating, and are now on trial for the strangest of charges, killing animals. The group with 1.6 million supporters is now accused of tossing garbage bags full of euthanized cats and dogs into a Dumpster behind a Piggly Wiggly Supermarket. Jurors now have to decide whether Hinkle and Cook were providing humane deaths to animals or taking animals on the promise of finding them homes and secretly killing them. PETAs official count of animals they kill is 86.3 percent (The Truth about PETA par. 2). But if theyre going around picking up animals, killing them while they drive and destroying the evidence by dumping the bodies in the trash, how are those deaths being reported? My guess is that the actual percentage is much higher. The more I learn about PETA, the less I think of them, how dare they lecture anyone about the ethical treatment of animals. Cassingham, Randy. A business plan includes the business idea that an entrepreneur is considering venturing into. It also describes his reasons for venturing into the business, his financial ability to invest in the venture, the location of his business and the available sources of raw materials (Parker, 2004). Strategic Objectives These are the goals that a business sets to achieve in the short and long run periods. They assist in the formation of the long-term plans in order to achieve a specific purpose for the business (Wiklund, 2006).These objectives are made by the strategic management in a business. They formulate these strategies to achieve the objectives that the business first intends to achieve (Landoli and Landstorm, 2007).When coming up with the strategic objectives for the business, the management will need to consider their scope of operations, their fin ancial abilities, their target customers along with their levels of income. The adoption of a strategy involves the interaction of societal, intellectual, monetary, political and emotional forces (Wiklund, 2006). When formulating strategic objectives, the consideration of the above issues will greatly enable an entrepreneur to achieve success in his business endeavors. A business plan has to incorporate the objectives that the entrepreneur aims to achieve in the long run and the means of achieving them (Landoli and Landstorm, 2007). Market Analysis and Research Market analysis involves the carrying out of extensive investigations into the elements that affect the market of a certain commodity or product (Parker, 2004). The market needs to be analyzed in terms of the supply of the raw materials, the demand for the products and services and the cost and availability of the raw materials requires for business (Fischer, 2007). The market analysis can also involve the assessment of the a ccessibility to the business by the customers and an analysis of the target market. When a proper analysis is done on the above conditions, success is likely to come to the entrepreneurs venture. The analysis should provide direction on what are the strengths and weaknesses of the business, the growth opportunities the business has and the threats the business is likely to encounter (Parker, 2004). A business plan should include the type of customers a business will deal with, the overall market share the business intends to control, the pricing strategy to be put to use, and the sales, promotion and distribution strategies to use in the business (Parker, 2004). A statement of the research methods that a business plans to use is also on display in the business plan. Research helps in the creation of better products that assist in satisfying the customerââ¬â¢s needs in a more cost effective way. It also assists an entrepreneur in learning the newest methods of producing goods that are of more superior quality than those currently in use by the consumers. Research is very essential for a success to be achievable in the efforts of an entrepreneur. This is because it gives him or her greater insight into their market systems thus enabling him to build a joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-20844828959689728972020-02-08T14:47:00.001-08:002020-02-08T14:47:02.913-08:00Why might an existing non-franchised business choose to become a EssayWhy might an existing non-franchised business choose to become a franchisor - Essay Example The motive is consistent with the resource allocation theory that stipulates that organizational units are most productive when tightly controlled (Ashar & Shapiro, 1988), although the new resource-based view of the theory advocates value creation by combining local (or franchisee) and central (or franchisor) advantages (Combs, 2003). The motive was a major driver of franchising among American auto manufacturers in the 1900s (Combs, 2003). The auto manufacturers lacked funds to open dealerships across the country. Their workaround to the problem was to create chains of franchises across the US. The franchisees invested in stocks of vehicles and premises. In return, they enjoyed exclusive marketing territories. Although a business may want a franchise in order to use other peopleââ¬â¢s funds to grow, some scholars have cast doubt over the cherished notion that the ability to expand without investing their money and retain control over operations is one of the main reasons firms fra nchise. Franchisee financial constraints are a major cause of poor relations between the franchisor and franchise and a threat to the survival of both (Dada, et al., 2009). If this argument is true then it defeats the logic of the franchisor seeking to expand using the franchiseeââ¬â¢s capital. A number of reasons explain the occurrence of such a situation. First, some franchisees may falsify their financial position in order to meet the stringent requirements of the franchisor. Such falsification of information, coupled with lack of due diligence on the part of the franchisor creates a situation where the franchise starts the franchise with inadequate capital. Shortly afterward, the franchise becomes unable to provide the product they set out to provide. Even in the absence of documented cases of this nature, the risk of such a scenario is real. The implication is that a business that is desirous of adopting a franchise model as a joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-53771804823653585282020-01-29T21:43:00.001-08:002020-01-29T21:43:02.908-08:00VoIP software Technology For Bank Essay Example for Free VoIP software Technology For Bank Essay Fifth Main bank could use a VoIP software suite such as Avaya to meet its phone and call center needs. The Avaya VoIP software would allow the bank to use their existing IP network to implement it and would help them get away from the old switch based network. The software would also allow them to see the status of the person they are trying to reach, as well as assist with call logging and warm transfers. A concern with implementing this would be bandwidth. Adding that many IP based devices could bog down the system if it has low bandwidth. Another would be making sure each location is connected to the same network to easily transfer the calls. Another concern would be making sure all employees are trained on how to use the new system to its full potential. These concerns can be overcome by upgrading their current network capacity to increase bandwidth and get everyone on the same network. The new devices can be made effective by supplying training and manuals to employees to ensure it is being used correctly. Adding this technology will mean the bank will need to increase their network security. They should already have pretty good security since they are a bank, but adding VoIP services will open new vulnerabilities that will need to be locked down. joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-88257885048052259292020-01-21T18:07:00.001-08:002020-01-21T18:07:03.210-08:00Eli Whitney: The Inventor That Shook The Nation :: essays research papers Eli Whitney, one of the first great American inventors, who had a very interesting inventing period. It pretty much didn't happen. But I'll explain that later. I chose Eli for a very good reason: I knew absolutely nothing about him. Well, other than the given, he invented the cotton gin. I've always enjoyed researching inventors, so it was either Mr. Whitney, or Robert Fulton. Happily I chose Eli. From studying Eli I hoped to learn about some of his other inventions, what inspired him to invent, in what conditions did he grow up and live in, and also what did his inventions lead to (as in other inventions or discoveries). Since I knew nothing about the E-ster when I began, I was eagerly soaking up information. So I knew nothing to be true or false when beginning. He proved to be a very interesting and almost tragic inventor. Now I'll get into the information part of it. Well, I may as well begin in the beginning . . . you know what I mean. Mr. Whitney was born on December 8, 1769 in Westborough, Massachusetts. He was one of the first great American inventors. It probably began early on because he always enjoyed toying with objects. He loved to build and take apart items. When he was twelve, he made a violin. Shortly after, when he was in his teens, he established a prominent nail making business. Later on, 1783-1789 to be exact, he taught grammar school in Westborough. When he'd had enough of that, he entered Yale in 1789, then graduated in 1792. After Yale, he journeyed to Savannah, Georgia to teach and study law. There he met Catherine Littlefield Greene. She invited him as a guest to stay in her home while he studied law. Eli believed he should start fixing things to earn his keep around the house. After many of the visitors to Mrs. Greene's house, a certain couple began to discuss the south and their needs. Eventually, the talk fell upon cotton, and how useless the cotton that grew there was. It took ten hours of hand work to separate the cotton from the seeds. That was when Mrs. Greene suggested they ask Mr. Whitney. She said: quote "Gentlemen, apply to my young friend, Mr. Whitney. He can make anything." Unquote. He watched how people would go about doing this and in ten days, he had created a prototype of the joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-45168360298714406372020-01-13T14:31:00.001-08:002020-01-13T14:31:03.781-08:00Driving Under the Influence of a Cell PhoneDriving Under the Influence of a Cell Phone Dameatrius McCreary, age 5 was killed when he was hit by a driver that had reached down to pick up a ringing cell-phone that had fallen to the floor of the car. Dameatrius had just gotten off a school bus that was dropping him off. The school bus was parked, had its warning lights flashing and a stop sign out when he was hit by the vehicle (11 Reasons to ban). Each year in the United States, talking on a cell phone while driving causes an estimated 2600 motor vehicle-related deaths and 330,000 moderate to critical injuries (Lissy).Driving is a complex task at the best of times. A driver speeds up and slows down, steers, changes lanes, scans the road for hazards, checks mirrors, merges, and brakes. When in traffic, drivers must process a great deal of information in a very short time. Talking on a cell phone while driving greatly impacts onesââ¬â¢ ability to drive safely. Despite the known risk, many people still use a cell phone while dr iving. Cell phones are not only cognitively distracting, but they affect peripheral vision and cause reaction time to become much slower.By banning cell-phone usage while driving, the number of deaths and injuries could be decreased significantly. Lawmakers need to push this issue into law before more innocent lives are taken. Some people feel they are experienced enough drives and have the ability to drive and talk on a cell phone. My brother thinks he is the best driver in the world. We have had many discussions on how dangerous it is to focus more on your phone than on the road. He feels that no amount of talking on the phone or texting is going to be detrimental to his driving.I have found this common attitude with many of my family and friends who drive with the phone stuck to their ear. This behavior is not due to a lack of awareness of the dangers. They truly believe they are in control of their environment and overestimate their own ability to drive safely while talking on t he phone. This superman mind-set clouds their way of thinking. In fact many people know that using a cell phone while driving is dangerous, and some even consider it more risky than eating or putting on make-up in the car. In a focus group, held in 2000, benefits of driving while talking on a cell phone were discussed. Some of the argued benefits were to, ââ¬Å"expand productivity for commuters, improve mental alertness, and diminish the tendency to speed (Lissy 44). In another study conducted in 2002 by Hammond and Horswill showed ââ¬Å"drivers with a high desire for control were more likely to engage in risky driving behaviors than were those with a low desire for controlâ⬠(Schlehofer 1108). It is this high desire for control that causes drivers to overlook the danger that is involved in talking on the phone and focus on what they are able to accomplish while doing it.It is true if you talk on the phone while driving you will probably get more accomplished, but is it worth the risk? Talking on a cell phone is a cognitive distraction plain and simple. Several studies show that a driver paying attention to a conversation on a cell phone is distracted simply because he is paying attention to the conversation, reducing the attention he is paying to driving and what is going on around him (Ropeik and Gray 71). Not only is talking a distraction, but today our phones are loaded with applications, which usually require two hands to operate. We have all witnessed drivers that have one hand on the wheel and the other hand typing, or driving with their knee while texting. When your hands are holding your phone, or dialing or receiving a call, theyââ¬â¢re not holding the steering wheel or helping to control the vehicle. Think of the last time you came upon someone driving in the left hand lane while traveling under the speed limit. A lot of the time they are talking on their phone. Many times they merge into your lane and never realize that you are even there.C ell phone usage may decrease speed, but it also creates more of a hazard for drivers and everyone else around them. Research at the University of Utah suggests that cognitive distraction may be the most important distraction since their test subjects did equally poorly when using hands-free or hand-held devices (Ropeik and Gray 71). Talking on a cell phone while driving, dramatically affects your peripheral vision. It has been claimed that driving while talking on a cell phone can be as or more dangerous than driving drunk.I know that when I have been talking on the phone while driving and change lanes or turn, it is not as easy to see other cars. It has only taken a couple of close calls for me to realize that my life and that of my family is not worth the 5 minute conversation I could be having with someone. A study done by the Southern College of Optometry to measure visual fields with and without a cell phone conversation taking place suggests that cell phone conversations tend to artificially constrict the peripheral awareness as measured by a visual field. This suggests that cell phone use while riving can decrease the perceptual visual field, making the driver less aware of the surroundings and more susceptible to accident (Maples et al 36). Think of those times you have picked up your phone to see who is calling or to read a text you have just received. As you look at the phone, glancing up every so often to see what is ahead of you, are you paying attention to what is around you? Are you able to look over your shoulder to make sure no one is in your blind spot before changing lanes? Generally you have no idea what is behind or on the side of you.Suddenly you are so involved in reading that text or taking that phone call that everything around you disappears. Driving requires the use of all of your faculties. If you are looking for your phone, or at your phone to make a call, you are not looking at the road. Furthermore, the reaction time decreases dra matically when using a phone while driving. University of Utah psychology professor David Strayer stated, ââ¬Å"Drivers talking on cell phones were 18% slower to react to brake lights and once the driver hits the brakes, it takes them longer to get back into the normal flow of traffic. The net result is they are impeding the overall flow of trafficâ⬠(Britt). Stop and go traffic is already frustrating, but drivers who are paying more attention to what is going on with their phone than with traffic just amplifies the problem. Studies of driver performance, observing drivers both on simulators and in the field, have shown that mobile phone use while driving can adversely affect reaction time, swerving ability, and the ability to execute difficult driving tasks (Ropeik and Gray 71).Driving with both hands on the wheel and having your eyes focused on the road the whole time is hard enough. Now add the distraction of a cell phone and one is bound to have problems. As much as we woul d like to think that we can do multiple things at the same time, the reality is no one is perfect. Case in point: On Thanksgiving weekend, 1999, John and Carole Hall were killed when a Naval Academy midshipman crashed into their parked car. The driver said in court that when he looked up from the cell phone he was dialing, he was 3 feet from the car and had no time to stop (Stockwell B8).University of Utah research found that test subjects took longer to react to traffic signals and completely missed twice as many of those signals when they were on the phone (Ropeik and Gray 71). Matt Wilhelm was cycling near Urbana, Illinois when he was struck and killed by a driver that was downloading ring tones to her cell phone. Mattââ¬â¢s death has prompted cell phone legislation that has been signed by Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. The new law teaches teen drivers the importance of avoiding distraction while they are driving (11 Reasons to ban).Recently Oprah has been promoting a No P hone Zone pledge challenging her viewers to stop using their cell phones while driving. They pledge to not text or talk on their cell phone. We can all take this pledge and help get the word out how dangerous it is to let our cell phones distract us from safe driving. Driving is a complex task that requires the driver's full attention. Smart drivers keep their hands on the wheel, their eyes on the road and focus more attention on driving than talking on the phone. Because of increased injuries and deaths surrounding accidents involving cell phones, we must begin to take this problem seriously. How many more lives need to be claimed before we take a stand? The time is now to call your local representative and voice your opinion before someone you love is affected by this dangerous habit. It is time we put the brake on our cell phone usage while driving. Banning cell phone use while driving may not totally eliminate the number of deaths or accidents that happen, but it will dramaticall y decrease them for sure. How many lives can we save by simply putting our cell phones down and concentrating on actually driving?Works Cited ââ¬Å"11 Reasons to ban Cell-Phone Use While Driving. DrivingLaws. org 951online. I think that younger students find it easier to acculturate into the new environment. Chomsky opined that by a certain age the LAD is worn out and is no longer available by puberty. Indeed I do agree with this opinion. From my observation, adolescents (and more so adults) have great difficult acculturating in a new environment when the LAD is no longer available. This exacerbates the challenges of learning the L2 and presents the possibility of a poor outcome. The introduction to socio-linguistics as a course has paid substantial dividends to me. It has widened my horizons and made me come to appreciate the importance of all dialects and languages. I mention this because it relates to the attitude of one writer who believed some languages, such as the various lingua franca, pidgins and Creoles, have marginal status. As a child growing up, I had friends who were Jamaica ns. We all spoke the English language, but somehow they pronounced some of their words differently, such as mon for man. Firstly, the foundations of a slippery slope argument will be discussed, along with the usual fallacious nature of this type of argument, also to be discussed, is if slippery slope arguments ever provide good reasons for accepting their conclusions. Secondly, euthanasia will be introduced and discussed, this will be done using an example of a slippery slope argument by John Keown from his book Euthanasia, ethics and public policy: and argument against legalization. From this example, the morality of euthanasia will be discussed as to whether slippery slope arguments show that euthanasia is immoral. Lastly, euthanasia will be discussed with reference utilitarianism, and if euthanasia would potentially be viewed as a good or moral option by utilitarian theory or if it would be viewed as immoral. Slippery slope arguments are often used to argue that if we allow something to become legal we will be stepping onto the slippery slope to allowing something viewed as morally wrong to also become legal. These arguments are used often within society, although most of the time they are used in a casual manner and the distance between point A and B is so large they are not taken seriously, (Spielthenner, 2010; Jefferson, 2014). For that reason slippery slope arguments as a general idea are not considered to be good logical arguments. So, slippery slopeShow MoreRelatedEuthanasi The Issue Of Legalizing Euthanasia1662 Words à |à 7 PagesLegalization of Euthanasia Ata Dogan Student Sheridan College Abstract This paper examines how countries around the world have dealt with euthanasia as an upcoming issue. But what if there was a way out? This is exactly what Margery Kempe does, she finds a way out of her heteronormative lifestyle that she was thrown into in the early 1400s of medieval England. Kempe realizes that the only way for her to get out of this lifestyle is to become an image of God. Kempe transforms herself into a holy woman, even aiming to make herself seem saint like in an effort to cover up her lesbian tendencies. In The Book of Margery Kempe, Kempe utilizes the literary devices of lesbian signs, transgressive sexuality, and homoeffective bonding to depict her underlying homoerotic tendencies that cause her to purse a mystical marriage with Christ. Answer: What I had a team, which I was leading in order to accomplish some quick task. In this event, the company relied on the progress of my team in order to take a go ahead on other key activities on the production sector (Richman, 2012). Nevertheless, I found out two of the ten team member were unable to disband the required information on time to finish up with the tasks set. This was dragging the progress of the activities behind and therefore meaning that the company would not be able to progress with other activities as it was planned. So what The delays would cost the company since the production was urgent and the client was on the neck to have the delivery done. I had therefore to organize a quick meeting with the team members to explain once more, what was required from them and the urgency of the activities which they were carrying out (Charney, 2006). With the slow progress, I felt the blame as the blame as the lead supervisor to have the activities done. Since I had been briefed on the situation, I was able to carry the responsibility of my team members and therefore I had to make sure we deliver as required. This meant that I had to explain to the team members the need to collaborate effectively and ensure that each member has what they require to accomplish the set tasks (Mersino, 2007). What else Additionally, I took the responsibility of explaining the need to helping each other in order to ensure quick delivery of the results. I had experienced the same with another team, where I found few members were very poor in collaborating with others. This is a key weakness, which is able to happen when one has a team. Although it is the individuals weakness, as the leader one has to come up with a solution to resolve the problem and ensure delivery of the result is achieved. What now Nevertheless, in this situation I think I have to improve on the communication skills to ensure that before the start of the activity, I have a proper brief to all members on what is required from them. I failed to have the brief where I had to explain on the different challenges, which we are facing, and the way we will resolve them when executing the duties. Team management skill is another key area, which is need to improve (Vocam Worldwide Publishing, 2006). This will help me to identify the key weaknesses of my team members and help me to handle the challenge and not exposing them. Additionally, working on this will ensure that I provide and assign the perfect tasks to the perfect persons. This will ensure that all the team members are comfortable when executing their duties and therefore enhance quick delivery. In order to ensure that the tasks are accomplished on time, I have learnt that communication and understanding of the team members are critical. As an engineer and super visor, I need to be able to enhance the collaboration of the team members through proper communication and understanding members weaknesses. These two are critical skills, which as a lead person has to enhance to ensure that they deliver as required and on time. What In delivery of key task, behavior changes are required to ensure that the required goals are achieved. One of the key behavior change, which is need to make to become better engineer, is trusting others in resolving problems. To be an effective engineer, one has to enhance others and collaborate with them in resolving different challenges while executing duties (Wellington Foster, 2009). I have a weakness in trusting others when it comes to problem solving. I always believe that I can come up with the solution and this takes time. Collaborating with others will help in provision of different views on resolving these solutions (Whitcomb Whitcomb, 2013). This will ensure that disputes in task delivery and available challenges are dealt with on time. So what Proper organization of teams and understanding their weakness is another key behavioral change that I have to make. This will ensure that the teams members are able to enhance their delivery through proper organization. The organization of the team will ensure that the teams are able to deliver the key tasks on the required timeline. The organization of the team and what they need to do has to be done early enough to ensure that they understand their tasks and the way they have to deliver them. I have a weakness on assigning any team member any task because I believe they can deliver. This has to change and then ensure that the team members are assigned the key tasks, which they are conversant with (Haynes Haynes, 2009). This will ensure that the team members will deliver perfect work to meet the required standard. Understanding other weaknesses will ensure that they are assigned tasks, which they can deliver perfect. I will therefore work on ensuring that I am able to understand th eir weaknesses and assign the task they can deliver. What Else Time management is essential for the project management (Arciszewski, 2016). The time management ensures that the different activities are well planned and the project is completed on time. I believe that I am a time conscious individual. I always plan on what to deliver and at what time duration I have to accomplish such activities. This ensures that I am able to plan earlier, deliver the different activities, and assign the time duration, which I think, is appropriate for their execution. What now The best time management behavior is planning. The planning of the activities is able to provide a consistence way if delivering such activities. The planning is able to ensure that the delivery procedure is aligned and adhered to in such proper manner. The worst behavior on time management is allowing people to take longer in accomplishing tasks than it is assigned (Chou, 2013). This is able to drag the project behind and lead to wastage of a lot of time. This can result in having incompetent team members. Unclear planning is another worst behavior in the time management. Failing to plan is planning to fail. This is true since time management is usually not taken into consideration and therefore unaccomplished tasks are found on the way. Career Plan What The draft of my career as an engineer will start like a design engineer. This will help me.to understand the different aspects of the design and the way they are achieved. The engineering aspect relies on the design aspects and consideration, which must be taken at any time. The next step will be able to move to the field and supervise project implementation. This will enhance my supervisory skills of the different engineering aspect. The next will be able to move to the project management. At this level is will be able to manage the project and enhance the planning of the activities for the project. Lastly, I will move to the consultancy field, where I will be able to offer the consultant services on different engineering aspects (Chang, 2014). This will mean I will move to consultancy firms and enhance the consultant skills on these firms. The key works which I would like to execute, as an engineer will range from designing, supervisory, management and consultancy services. In orde r to be able to work at these different capacities, I will need time management skills, supervisory skills and proper communication skills. I will require working with different people in order to attain these skills. Understanding their working will ensure that I am able to deliver on achieving the tasks on time. Answer: Introduction Brand is defined as the name given to a good or service from a precise source. Brand is often used in the same context as that of the word trademark. Integrated brand strategy is a complementary aspect that refers to the incorporation of the entire set of capability of a firm into a flawless system with an objective of exemplary customer satisfaction. On the other hand, integration of brand is different as it describes how a good is wicker into a TV show or movie. With large volumes of data across several marketing channels, brands are confronted to organize as well as active the correct data resources in order to maximize performance of cross-channel (Vallaster and von Wallpach 2015). The segmentation strategy is mostly used to make a brand measurable, considerable, available as well as differential and actionable. In order to optimize efficiency of brand management, it is imperative to align brand segmentation as well as activation. A successful segmentation of brand helps to increase top of mind awareness, likeability of brand as well as brand purchase. A brand strategy is an action that helps customers to connect with a business through recognition. It is imperative to increase awareness of brand if an individual starts a new business. On the other hand, integrated brand strategy stresses the magnitude of a reliable, flawless as well as multi-dimensional experience of a brand of the customer. The example of Apple computer brand helps to illustrate an integrated brand strategy. The advertising approach that they follow is simple as they only display a sleek, up-to-date product that works rapidly and also in ways that the rivals never thought possible. The already-successful companies will also be able to get benefited from integrated brand strategy (Rosenbaum-Elliott et al. 2015). Since the transplanted organ contains most of the recipientââ¬â¢s genes, there is a lesser chance for rejection as well. â⬠¢ Cloning can be a solution to the infertility issue among couples. Theoretically speaking, parents can choose the desirable qualities in their genes to be passed on to their children. â⬠¢ Genetic research can immensely benefit from cloning especially in combating the wide range of genetic diseases. Tipping the balance in the pros and cons of cloning is the fact the gene cloning can be harnessed to produce superior plants and animals to feed humanity. Genetic engineering has made great advances in this regard although it is also polarizing. Disadvantages of Cloning Of course, there are disadvantages to cloning that prevent the advances in this area to be made. We will write a custom essay sample on Pros and Cons of human cloning or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Such disadvantages include: â⬠¢ Genetic diversity and its benefits are weakened with the replicating process in cloning. We may be exposing ourselves to a compromised ability to adapt to our surroundings, not to mention that the beauty of diversity is lost. â⬠¢ Unethical practices can result from cloning as unscrupulous individuals can breed individuals with certain traits. Probably the most contentious issue in the debate about the pros and cons of cloning is the ethical side of the process. Is it ethical to act like God by creating an embryo that develops into a human being? Is it ethical to kill a pre-embryo in order to harvest its stem cells, which will then be cultivated into an organ for transplant purposes? Is it ethical to mess around with nature in the first place? Indeed, if you must take sides in the pros and cons of cloning debate, your main responsibility is to enter it with an open, educated and informed mind first and stable emotions second. joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557609355419253113.post-78797024107227744032019-11-24T09:55:00.001-08:002019-11-24T09:55:05.088-08:00Environmental Problems in Victorian Era Britain essaysEnvironmental Problems in Victorian Era Britain essays Several factors in Great Britain during the Victorian age came together to form numerous problems. One problem among many was the issue of the environment. The new technology of the Industrial Revolution caused many problems for the Britainà ¿s environment. With the new gigantic machines at work in the city, workers were unable to work at home anymore. They were required to work in the city. This was also done so the masters of the factories could keep the workers under a tighter schedule. The new machines caused an enormous amount of pollution in the city. The air was smoggy, and the air had the acrid smell of burnt fossil fuels. The workers were forced to breathe in smoggy air, which often made them queasy, or very sick. This environmental problem greatly contributed to the outbreak of illness in Great Britain. Another factor which contributed to the disease outbreak was the close quarters they worked in. The limited space in the factories restricted the size of the workerà ¿s working area. This problem allowed the disease to spread like wildfire. Several disease outbreaks occurred, none of which were beneficial to the environment. It is almost certain that the diseases spread to animals who werenà ¿t immune to it. This would have weakened the food web. Many changes in Britain caused a domino effect, damaging the environment, spreading the disease to people, and also, as technology developed, more accidents happened. The Industrial Revolution caused many changes, positive and negative, and had a substantial effect on the environment of Great Britain. Several cities almost grew overnight in Britain in the 1700's. One example of this is the city Manchester. This city grew so quickly because of several features of the area. One major factor was the amount of coal in the area. The coal was the main power source for the engines and machines of the Revolution, so it was necessary for the major cities to have an abundance of coal. The company was established in 1935 and is the leading British supermarket chain as far as production of sugar and bakerââ¬â¢s yeast is concerned. The company has five strategic business units: Sugar, Agriculture, Retail, Grocery and Ingredients. The grocery division stocks both branded and own label products. Brands that fall under its grocery division include Mazola, Ovaltine, Ryvita, Jordans and Twinings, Silver Spoon, Tip Top and Kingsmill. The companyââ¬â¢s retail division (called Primark in UK and Penneys in Ireland) has a global presence with over 215 stores covering a total area of 6.9 million square feet. The retail divisionââ¬â¢s outlets are located in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK. In 1963, the company acquired the British supermarket giant, Fine Fare which it sold later in 1986 in order to acquire British sugar. As of 2009, British Sugar fulfills the sugar requirements of more than half of UK. Finally, in 2007 ABF acquired an Indian food business. The company provides employment to more than 97,000 people and operates in more than 44 countries. UK contributes to around half of the companyââ¬â¢s sales and profits. ABF has been rigorously diversifying into other markets than Sugar since early 2000s which is a crucial aspect of its strategy. ABF acquired ââ¬ËTwiningsââ¬â¢ in 1964 to broaden the range of national and international marketing resources available. (Whittington, R. and Mayer, M., 2002). To date Twinings has been an asset in the companyââ¬â¢s portfolio as it enjoys strong brand loyalty and has had a pull effect which has increased sales of other brands within ABFââ¬â¢s portfolio (Whittington, R. and Mayer, M., 2002).ABF further diversified into the food business with the intention of providing one-stop convenience shopping to customers; the company had realized that customer buying habits and trends were changing (Whittington, R. and Mayer, M., 2002). One of the most important reasons however was the instability of earnings from sugar sector due to its seasonal nature, coupled with the anticipated EU reform (Bertin, O., 2002). Another crucial aspect of ABFââ¬â¢s strategy has been its diversification and growth strategy. The company has, over the years, expanded to sectors beyond sugar which is a conscious and well-thought out strategy based on strong reasoning. Firstly, the highly debated EU sugar reform intended to cut surplus in sugar beet production by slashing prices by an exorbitant 43% which would adversely affect the companyââ¬â¢s earnings (Bertin, O., 2002). Secondly, sales from the sugar business were subject to seasonal fluctuations which had to be recovered from non-seasonal businesses so the diversification to other lines such as retail, ingredient and grocery was well just ified for ABF. (Bertin, O., 2002).Thirdly, world markets had become very unstable especially in the years following 2000 because of which its sugar line was capable of being harshly affected (Cherney and Elena, 2001). Furthermore, its sugar industry was highly dependent on the local UK economy for raw materials and output which made it undesirable for the company due to the countryââ¬â¢s history of slow recovery from economic recessions so its diversification was justified. (Cherney and Elena, 2001). Therefore, it is evident from the reasons mentioned above that the company was formally employed in the sugar industry; however, it spread its operations to other unrelated sectors such as grocery, retail and ingredients (Austen and Ian, 2007). A key aspect of ABFââ¬â¢s diversification strategy has been its geographic diversification. In 2006, it got hold of Illovo; a South Africa based company which it has used as a means of penetrating deeper into the South African sugar market and could joannabell34http://www.blogger.com/profile/01128511360015605031noreply@blogger.com0
